SOAP TRAY | concrete
Andreas Riess, 2020
The reappearance of the soap bar - of which in the wake of an emerging environmental consciousness there is a growing abundance catering to all tastes and purposes - raises the old question of how to best rest the soap bar next to the sink. On contact with water soap will melt and that is quite fine when in your wet hands. Unfortunately it continues to melt to the point of disintegration when rested in water. Here is our answer to that important issue.
We have designed and produced stylish SOAP TRAY to safely and practically rest a soap bar, taking into account the above said. Four sharp ridges support the bar with a minimum of contact, thus promoting re-drying of the bar optimally.
The flat design without rim caters to virtually all soap bar shapes. One size fits all.
Tests have shown that no additional dripping precautions are necessary: A wet soap bar does not drip, rather does it suck up the water. Consequently, a flat tray is completely sufficient.
The material is concrete - the stuff of the moment. It radiates a cool minimalistic look that goes with many interour design concepts of these days.

At the request of some customers, self-adhesive cork strips are now included in the scope of delivery of our soap dish, which can optionally be stuck on the underside to protect sensitive surfaces. Up to now we have no experience with the durability of these strips in a continuously wet environment.
SOAP TRAYs fresh from the mold
Beside sand one SOAP TRAY consists 125g cement. According to wikipedia that accounts for about 100 g CO2. That amount is set free for the production of only about 0.08 liter milk which is less than half a glas.
SOAP TRAY can be 100 percent recycled. Broken up it deliveres a valuable aggregate for road construction or concrete.
