CHAIR | prototype
Andreas Riess, 2020
Designing a straight chair for a dining table requires a number of considerations. A seat and a back support must be held securely in the room. For this purpose, the four support points must be arranged in such a way that unintentional tilting of the chair is impossible. The supporting structure must be designed to reliably absorb load forces also for heavy persons, taking into account the material properties and the joining technology.
The chair shown here is a prototype made of spruce wood. The curved rungs of the backrest and seat are cut from solid wood with a band saw.
The chair has been in use since June 2020 and has been tested by several people. The ratings are consistently positive.
